Kumquat Tree

Citrus trees can be grown in the ground or in containers.  Citrus trees should be protected from cold damage when temps get below freezing and especially in the 20's for an extended period.

Meiwa Kumquat- Fruit is more round than the negami kumquat and has a sweeter flesh than the negami.  Fruit is usually eaten whole with the skin in tact.

Negami Kumquat- Fruit are oval in shape with sweet skin and sour flesh.  The fruit is usually eaten whole with the skin.

Marumi Kumquat - Small and compact tree may reach up to 8 or 9' in height, less if in kept in a container.  The skin is sweet and the pulp is tart or sour.  Fruit are round in shape much like the Meiwa.

Kumquat trees also make beautiful ornamental trees.

Kumquats are among the most cold hardy citrus trees.

*Citrus trees can be protected with freeze cloth.  Cover the tree and anchor the cloth to the ground allowing heat to rise from the ground.  *We sell freeze cloth by the foot in store, but not online currently.  Kumquats are among the most cold hardy citrus trees.
