Southern Native Pecan tree: These trees are seedlings from local wholesale growers. They are said to have small buttery pecans with good oil content.
Other Pecans we offer are scab resistant varieties good for our area and low input or organic orchard conditions. We researched these pecan varieties along with talking to a specialist at the Alabama Co-op for advice on scab resistant varieties for our area.
Gafford- Type I Excellent Scab resistance. Bearing age 5-6yrs, Mid-Late Season fruit maturity,
Buttery Flavor. Cross-Pollinate with Lakota.
Syrup Mill- Type I Excellent Scab resistance. (Found in Mobile County) Large Fruit. October maturity.
Lakota- Type II Scab resistant. Bearing age 7-8 yrs, Easy to shell, Early Season Fruit maturity.
Cross-Pollinate with Gafford.
Kanza- Type II Excellent Scab resistance. (A Texas variety) Easy Shelling Pecan variety with
Med-Large Flavorful fruit. Early Season- Ripens Mid-Late October.
